Kvacī ti kasmā? Aham eva nūna bālo etam atthaṃ viditvāna (Vin. iii, 2).

Sometimes, elision.
When a vowel follows, sometimes the niggahita comes to elision.
Examples: “Tāsāhaṃ santike”, “vidūn’ aggam iti”.

Tāsāhaṃ: tāsaṃ ahaṃ; tāsa ahaṃ (§38); tās a ahaṃ (§10); tās ahaṃ (§12); tās āhaṃ (§15); tāsāhaṃ (§11).

Vidūn’ aggaṃ: vidūnaṃ aggaṃ; vidūna aggaṃ (§38); vidūn a aggaṃ (§10); vidūn aggaṃ (§12); vidūnaggaṃ (§11); vidūnaggaṃ (ME).

Why say “sometimes”? [To prevent the operation of this rule in the following example] “Aham eva nūna bālo etam atthaṃ viditvāna”.

Aham eva.

Etam atthaṃ.
