Naye paraṃ yutte

When appropriate, one should carry [the consonant] to the following [letter].

[Naye + paraṃ + yutte = 3 words]

Assaraṃ kho byañjanaṃ adhoṭhitaṃ parakkharaṃ naye yutte.

Tatrābhiratim iccheyya (Khu. i, 29).

Yutte ti kasmā? Akkocchi maṃ avadhi maṃ, ajini maṃ ahāsi me (Khu. i, 26). Ettha pana yuttaṃ na hoti.

When appropriate, one should carry [the consonant] to the following [letter].
When appropriate, one should carry the consonant, which is without a vowel and which lies below, to the following letter.
Example: “Tatrābhiratim iccheyya”.
Why say “when appropriate” (yutte)? [To show that in] “Akkocchi maṃ avadhi maṃ, ajini maṃ ahāsi me”, here, however, it is not appropriate [to carry the consonant].
