245. 152. Jha-la-pā rassaṃ (477)

[Jha-la-pā + rassaṃ = 2 words]

Jha la pa icc ete rassam āpajjante ge pare.

Bho daṇḍi, bho sayambhu, bhoti itthi, bhoti vadhu.

‘Jha’, ‘la’ and ‘pa’ [become] short.
When ‘ga’ follows, ‘jha’, ‘la’ and ‘pa’ are shortened.
  1. Daṇḍi = daṇḍī + si (‘si’ is named ‘ga’ (§57); ‘ī’ is named ‘jha’ (§58); ‘ī’ is shortened (§245); ‘si’ is elided (§220)).
  2. Sayambhu = sayambhū + si (‘si’ is named ‘ga’ (§57); ‘ū’ is named ‘la’ (§58); ‘ū’ is shortened (§245); ‘si’ is elided (§220)).
  3. Itthi = itthī + si (‘si’ is named ‘ga’ (§57); ‘ī’ is named ‘pa’ (§59); ‘ī’ is shortened (§245); ‘si’ is elided (§220)).
