[Paro + vā + saro = 3 words]

Niggahitamhā paro saro lopaṃ pappoti vā.

Bhāsitaṃ abhinandun ti (D. i, 43); uttattaṃ ’va, yathābījaṃ ’va, yathādhaññaṃ ’va.

Vā ti kasmā? Aham eva nūna bālo, etad ahosi (Vin. i, 13).

The vowel after the niggahita optionally comes to elision.
Examples: “Bhāsitaṃ abhinandun ti”, “uttattaṃ ’va”, “yathābījaṃ ’va”, “yathādhaññaṃ ’va”.

Abhinandun ti: abhinanduṃ iti; abhinanduṃ ti (§40); abhinandun ti (§31); abhinandunti (§11); abhinandun ti (ME).

Uttattaṃ ’va: uttattaṃ iva; uttattaṃ va (§40); uttattaṃva (§11); uttattaṃ ’va (ME).

Yathābījaṃ ’va: yathābījaṃ iva; yathābījaṃ va (§40); yathābījaṃva (§11); yathābījaṃ ’va (ME).

Yathādhaññaṃ ’va: yathādhaññaṃ iva; yathādhaññaṃ va (§40); yathādhaññaṃva (§11); yathādhaññaṃ ’va (ME).

Why say “optionally”? [To prevent the operation of this rule in the following examples] “Aham eva nūna bālo”, “etad ahosi”.

Aham eva: ahaṃ eva; aham eva (§34); ahameva (§11); aham eva (ME).

Etad ahosi: etaṃ ahosi; etad ahosi (§34); etadahosi (§11); etad ahosi (ME).
