Āro himhi vā

Optionally, when ‘hi’ follows, [there is] ‘āra’.

[Āro + himhi + vā = 3 words]

Tassa sakhantassa āro hoti vā himhi vibhattimhi.

Sakhārehi, sakhehi.

Optionally, when ‘hi’ follows, [there is] ‘āra’.
Optionally, when the inflection ‘hi’ follows, the end [vowel] of “sakha” becomes ‘āra’.
  1. Sakhārehi = sakha + hi (the end ‘a’ of “sakha” is substituted by ‘āra’ (§195); ‘a’ of ‘āra’ is substituted by ‘e’ (§101)).
  2. Sakhehi = sakha + hi (‘a’ of “sakha” is substituted by ‘e’ (§101)).
