150. 249. Vā tatiye ca (328)

[Vā + tatiye + ca = 3 words]

Sabbesaṃ tumha-amhasaddānaṃ savibhattīnaṃ yadā padasmā paresaṃ te-me-ādesā honti vā yathāsaṅkhyaṃ tatiy’-ekavacane pare.

Kataṃ te pāpaṃ, kataṃ me pāpaṃ, kataṃ tayā pāpaṃ, kataṃ mayā pāpaṃ.

Padato ti kimatthaṃ? Tayā kataṃ, mayā kataṃ.

And optionally, in the third [singular inflection].
Optionally, when the third singular inflection follows, the whole words “tumha” and “amha”, when they come after a word, together with the inflections, are substituted by “te” and “me” respectively.
  1. Te = tumha + nā (“tumha” together with the third singular inflection ‘nā’ is substituted by “te” (§150)).
  2. Me = amha + nā (“amha” together with the third singular inflection ‘nā’ is substituted by “me” (§150)).

“Kataṃ te pāpaṃ” (the evil done by you).

“Kataṃ me pāpaṃ” (the evil done by me).

What is the purpose of saying “after a word”? [This sutta does not apply when they do not come after a word, such as in] tayā kataṃ, mayā kataṃ.

Without the footnotes: they are on the chapter card.
