Gha-pato ca yonaṃ lopo

And after ‘gha’ and ‘pa’, [there is] elision of ‘yo’.

[Gha-pato + ca + yonaṃ + lopo = 4 words]

Tehi gha pa jha la icc etehi yonaṃ lopo hoti vā.

Kaññā, kaññāyo; rattī, rattiyo; itthī, itthiyo; yāgū, yāguyo; vadhū, vadhuyo. Aggī, aggayo; bhikkhū, bhikkhavo; sayambhū, sayambhuvo; aṭṭhī, aṭṭhīni; āyū, āyūni.

Caggahaṇam anukaḍḍhanatthaṃ.

And after ‘gha’ and ‘pa’, [there is] elision of ‘yo’.
Optionally, after ‘gha’, ‘pa’, ‘jha’ and ‘la’, there is elision of ‘yo’.
  1. Kaññā = kaññā + yo (‘ā’ is named ‘gha’ (§60); ‘yo’ is elided (§118)).
  2. Rattī = ratti + yo (‘i’ is named ‘pa’ (§59); ‘yo’ is elided (§118); ‘i’ is lengthened (§88)).
  3. Itthī = itthī + yo (‘ī’ is named ‘pa’ (§59); ‘yo’ is elided (§118)).
  4. Yāgū = yāgu + yo (‘u’ is named ‘pa’ (§59); ‘yo’ is elided (§118); ‘u’ is lengthened (§88)).
