115. 181. Na ammādito (290)

[Na + ammādito = 2 words]

Tato ammādito gassa ekārattaṃ na hoti.

Bhoti ammā, bhoti annā, bhoti ambā, bhoti tātā.

Ammādito ti kimatthaṃ? Bhoti kaññe.

After “ammā” and others, no [change].
After “ammā”, etc., ‘ga’ is not substituted by ‘e’.
  1. Ammā = ammā + si (‘si’ is named ‘ga’ (§57) and is elided (§220); here ‘ga’ is not substituted by ‘e’ because there is “ammā” (§115)).
  2. The formation of the rest of the examples is similar to the previous one.

What is the purpose of saying “after ‘ammā’, etc.”? [This sutta does not apply when there is no “ammā”, etc., such as in] bhoti kaññe.

Without the footnotes: they are on the chapter card.
