114. 178. Ghat’ e ca (288)

[Ghato + e + ca = 3 words]

Tasmā ghato gassa ekārādeso hoti.

Bhoti ayye, bhoti kaññe, bhoti Kharādiye (Khu. v, 4).

Caggahaṇam avadhāraṇatthaṃ. Sanniṭṭhānaṃ.

And ‘e’ after ‘gha’.
After ‘gha’, ‘ga’ is substituted by ‘e’.
  1. Ayye = ayyā + si (‘ā’ is named ‘gha’ (§60); ‘si’ is named ‘ga’ (§57); ‘ga’ is substituted by ‘e’ (§114); ‘ā’ is elided (§83)).
  2. The formation of the rest of the examples is similar to the previous one.

“Ca” is for delimiting (avadhāraṇa). [Here the meaning is] fixity (sanniṭṭhāna).

Without the footnotes: they are on the chapter card.
