Vantu-mantu-vīnañ ca lopo

And there is elision of “vantu”, “mantu” and “vī”.

268. 397. Vantu-mantu-vīnañ ca lopo (518)

[Vantu-mantu-vīnaṃ + ca + lopo = 3 words]

Vantu mantu vī icc etesaṃ paccayānaṃ lopo hoti iya iṭṭha icc etesu paccayesu.

Guṇiyo, guṇiṭṭho, satiyo, satiṭṭho, medhiyo, medhiṭṭho.

And there is elision of “vantu”, “mantu” and “vī”.
When the suffixes ‘iya’ and ‘iṭṭha’ follow, the suffixes “vantu”, “mantu” and “vī” are elided.
  1. Guṇiyo = guṇavantu + iya + si (“vantu” is elided (§268); ‘a’ is elided (§83); ‘si’ is substituted by ‘o’ (§104)).
  2. Guṇiṭṭho = guṇavantu + iṭṭha + si (“vantu” is elided (§268); ‘a’ is elided (§83); ‘si’ is substituted by ‘o’ (§104)).
  3. Satiyo = satimantu + iya + si (“mantu” is elided (§268); ‘i’ is elided (§83); ‘si’ is substituted by ‘o’ (§104)).
  4. Satiṭṭho = satimantu + iṭṭha + si (“mantu” is elided (§268); ‘i’ is elided (§83); ‘si’ is substituted by ‘o’ (§104)).
  5. Medhiyo = medhāvī + iya + si (“vī” is elided (§268); ‘ā’ is elided (§83); ‘si’ is substituted by ‘o’ (§104)).
