[Ato + niccaṃ = 2 words]

Akārantehi napuṃsakaliṅgehi yonaṃ ni hoti niccaṃ.

Yāni, yāni; tāni, tāni; kāni, kāni; bhayāni, bhayāni; rūpāni, rūpāni.

Always after ‘a’.
After the neuter bases ending in ‘a’, ‘yo’ always becomes ‘ni’.
  1. Yāni = ya + yo (‘yo’ is substituted by ‘ni’ (§218); ‘a’ is lengthened (§88)).
  2. Tāni = ta + yo (‘yo’ is substituted by ‘ni’ (§218); ‘a’ is lengthened (§88)).
  3. Kāni = ka + yo (‘yo’ is substituted by ‘ni’ (§218); ‘a’ is lengthened (§88)).
  4. Bhayāni = bhaya + yo (‘yo’ is substituted by ‘ni’ (§218); ‘a’ is lengthened (§88)).
  5. Rūpāni = rūpa + yo (‘yo’ is substituted by ‘ni’ (§218); ‘a’ is lengthened (§88)).
