Text and translation
Read in the chapter →145. 238. Nāmhi tayā mayā (323)
Sabbessaṃ tumha-amhasaddānaṃ savibhattīnaṃ tayā mayā icc ete ādesā honti yathāsaṅkhyaṃ nāmhi vibhattimhi.
Tayā, mayā kataṃ.
Nāmhī ti kimatthaṃ? Tumhehi, amhehi.
- Tayā = tumha + nā (“tumha” together with the inflection ‘nā’ is substituted by “tayā” (§145)).
- Mayā = amha + nā (“amha” together with the inflection ‘nā’ is substituted by “mayā” (§145)).
What is the purpose of saying “when the inflection ‘nā’ follows”? [This sutta does not apply when ‘nā’ does not follow, such as in] tumhehi, amhehi.
Without the footnotes: they are on the chapter card.
