In the enumeration, when ‘yo’ follows, [there are] ‘vī’, ‘ti’, ‘cattāra’, ‘paññā’, ‘cha’, ‘satta’, ‘asa’ and ‘nava’ of two tens, three tens, four tens, five tens, six tens, seven tens, eight tens and nine tens [respectively], and of ‘yo’ [there are] ‘īsaṃ’, ‘āsaṃ’, ‘ṭhi’, ‘ri’, ‘ti’, ‘īti’ and ‘uti’.
In the enumeration (gaṇana), when [the inflection] ‘yo’ follows –not once only–, after one only (ekasesa) of those with the same form has been made to remain, there are respectively the following substitutions of the group of two tens, the group of three tens, the group of four tens, the group of five tens, the group of six tens, the group of seven tens, the group of eight tens and the group of nine tens: ‘vī’, ‘ti’, ‘cattāra’, ‘paññā’, ‘cha’, ‘satta’, ‘asa’, ‘nava’; and of [the inflection] ‘yo’ there are the following substitutions: ‘īsaṃ’, ‘āsaṃ’, ‘ṭhi’, ‘ri’, ‘ti’, ‘īti’, ‘uti’; afterwards, [these forms] are accomplished again.

What is the purpose of saying “asakiṃ” (not once only)? [To prevent the operation of this rule in cases like]: dasa (ten), where [the ten] occurs once only.

What is the purpose of saying “gaṇane” (in the enumeration)? [To prevent the operation of this rule in cases like]: dasadasakā purisā (men who have ten decades), [which is not pure numeration].

Without the footnotes: they are on the chapter card.
