Sati icc evamādīhi mantupaccayo hoti “tad ass’ atthi” icc etasmiṃ atthe.
Sati yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti satimā (M. i, 70). Evaṃ jutimā (Khu. i, 355), rucimā, thutimā, dhitimā (S. i, 170), matimā (SnA. i, 102), bhāṇumā (S. i, 197).
- Sati yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti satimā (there is mindfulness of/in him, or [mindfulness] exists in him: a mindful one).
Likewise:
- Juti yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti jutimā (there is brightness of/in him: a bright one).
- Ruci yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti rucimā (there is radiance of/in him: one who has radiance).
- Thuti yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti thutimā (there is praise of/in him: one who has praise).
- Dhiti yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti dhitimā (there is courage of/in him: a courageous one).
- Mati yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti matimā (there is discernment of/in him: a wise one).
- Bhāṇu yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti bhāṇumā (there are rays of light of/in it: the sun).
