Vīsati-dasesu bā dvissa tu

But when “vīsati” (twenty) and “dasa” (ten) follow, [there is] ‘bā’ of “dvi”.

380. 255. Vīsati-dasesu bā dvissa tu (810)

[Vīsati-dasesu + bā + dvissa + tu = 4 words]

Vīsati dasa icc etesu dvissa bā hoti.

Bāvīsatindriyāni (Abh. ii, 128), bārasa manussā.

Tuggahaṇena dvissa du-di-doādesā ca honti. Durattaṃ, dirattaṃ (Vin. ii, 28), diguṇaṃ (Vin. iii, 402), dohaḷinī (Khu. vi, 279).

But when “vīsati” (twenty) and “dasa” (ten) follow, [there is] ‘bā’ of “dvi”.
When “vīsati” (twenty) and “dasa” (ten) follow, “dvi” (two) is substituted by ‘bā’.
  1. Bāvīsatindriyāni (the twenty-two faculties).
  2. Bārasa manussā (twelve human beings).

By taking ‘tu’, “dvi” is also substituted by ‘du’, ‘di’ and ‘do’.

  1. Durattaṃ, dirattaṃ (two nights).
  2. Diguṇaṃ (two layers).
  3. Dohaḷinī (a pregnant woman who has cravings).
