Tappakativacane mayo

Tappakativacanatthe mayapaccayo hoti.

Suvaṇṇena pakataṃ kammaṃ sovaṇṇamayaṃ (D. ii, 148). Evaṃ rūpiyamayaṃ (D. ii, 148), jatumayaṃ, rajatamayaṃ (Khu. iii, 2), iṭṭhakamayaṃ, ayomayaṃ (Khu. i, 383), mattikāmayaṃ (Vin. i, 52), dārumayaṃ (DhA. i, 124), gomayaṃ (D. iii, 33).

[There is] ‘maya’ in expressing the nature of that.
In the meaning of “expressing the nature of that (tappakativacana)”, there is the suffix ‘maya’.
  1. Suvaṇṇena pakataṃ kammaṃ: sovaṇṇamayaṃ (work made of gold).

Likewise:

  1. Rūpiyena pakataṃ kammaṃ: rūpiyamayaṃ (work made of silver).
  2. Jatunā pakataṃ kammaṃ: jatumayaṃ (work made of lac).
  3. Rajatena pakataṃ kammaṃ: rajatamayaṃ (work made of silver).
  4. Iṭṭhakāya pakataṃ kammaṃ: iṭṭhakamayaṃ (work made of brick).
  5. Ayasā pakataṃ kammaṃ: ayomayaṃ (work made of iron).
  6. Mattikāya pakataṃ kammaṃ: mattikāmayaṃ (work made of clay).
  7. Dārunā pakataṃ kammaṃ: dārumayaṃ (work made of wood).
  8. Gāvena pakataṃ kammaṃ: gomayaṃ (what is made by the cow: cow dung).
