Daṇḍādito ika-ī

366. 400. Daṇḍādito ika-ī (790)

[Daṇḍa-ādito + ika-ī = 2 words]

Daṇḍādito ika ī icc ete paccayā honti “tad ass’ atthi” icc etasmiṃ atthe.

Daṇḍo yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti daṇḍiko, daṇḍī. Evaṃ māliko, mālī.

After “daṇḍa” (stick) and others, [there are] ‘ika’ and ‘ī’.
After “daṇḍa” (stick) and others, there are the suffixes ‘ika’ and ‘ī’ in this meaning: “there is this of him”.
  1. Daṇḍo yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti daṇḍiko, daṇḍī (there is a stick of/in him, or [a stick] exists in him: one who has a stick).
  2. Likewise: mālā yassa atthi, tasmiṃ vā vijjatī ti māliko, mālī (there is a garland of/in him, or [a garland] exists in him: one who has a garland).
