481. 524. Karassa sapaccayassa kāho (962)

[Karassa + sa-paccayassa + kāho = 3 words]

Kara icc etassa dhātussa sapaccayassa kāhādeso hoti vā bhavissantimhi vibhattimhi, ssassa ca niccaṃ lopo hoti.

Kāhati (JA. ii, 401), kāhiti (Khu. i, 64); kāhasi (Khu. i, 36), kāhisi; kāhāmi (DhA. i, 288), kāhāma.

Vā ti kimatthaṃ? Karissati (VinA. i, 75), karissanti (DhA. i, 153).

Sapaccayaggahaṇena aññehi pi bhavissantiyā vibhattiyā khāmi khāma chāmi chāma icc ādayo ādesā honti. Vakkhāmi (JA. i, 366), vakkhāma (JA. i, 170); vacchāmi (Vin. iii, 76), vacchāma.

[There is] ‘kāha’ of “kara” together with its suffix.
Optionally, the root “kara” together with its suffix is substituted by ‘kāha’ when the inflection “bhavissantī” follows, and there is always elision of ‘ssa’.
  1. Kāhati, kāhiti ([he] will do); kāhasi, kāhisi (you will do); kāhāmi (I will do), kāhāma (we will do).

What is the purpose of saying “vā” (optionally)? To allow an exception to this rule such as in the following examples: karissati ([he] will do), karissanti ([they] will do).

By taking “sapaccaya”, after other [roots] also, the inflection of the “bhavissantī” has the substitutions ‘khāmi’, ‘khāma’, ‘chāmi’, ‘chāma’ and others:

  1. Vakkhāmi (I will say), vakkhāma (we will say); vacchāmi (I will dwell), vacchāma (we will dwell).
Thus [ends] the third section in the verb chapter

Without the footnotes: they are on the chapter card.
