Tannissitatthe lo

358. 383. Tannissitatthe lo (778)

[Tannissitatthe + lo = 2 words]

“Tannissitatthe, tad assa ṭhānam” icc etasmiṃ atthe ca lapaccayo hoti.

Duṭṭhu nissitaṃ duṭṭhullaṃ (Vin. i, 24), vedaṃ nissitaṃ vedallaṃ (A. i, 417), duṭṭhu ṭhānaṃ duṭṭhullaṃ (Vin. i, 24), vedassa ṭhānaṃ vedallaṃ (A. i, 417).

In the meaning of “depending on that”, [there is] ‘la’.
In the meaning of “depending on that (tannissita)”, and in the meaning of “this is its cause (tad assa ṭhānaṃ)”, there is the suffix ‘la’.
Examples
  1. Duṭṭhu nissitaṃ: duṭṭhullaṃ (depending on what is bad: a grave offense).
  2. Vedaṃ nissitaṃ: vedallaṃ (depending on knowledge).
  3. Duṭṭhu ṭhānaṃ: duṭṭhullaṃ (a bad cause).
  4. Vedassa ṭhānaṃ: vedallaṃ (the cause of knowledge).
