[Niggahitaṃ + ca = 2 words]

Abbhāsassa ante niggahitāgamo hoti vā.

Caṅkamati (M. iii, 154), cañcalati, jaṅgamati.

Vā ti kimatthaṃ? Pivāsati, daddallati.

And [there is] the niggahita.
Optionally, there is insertion of the niggahita at the end of the previous syllable (abbhāsa).
  1. Caṅkamati ([he] walks up and down), cañcalati ([he] shakes), jaṅgamati ([he] goes about).

What is the purpose of saying “vā” (optionally)? To allow an exception to the rule such as in the following examples: pivāsati ([he] wishes to drink), daddallati ([he] shines brilliantly).
