When a vowel follows, there is ‘an’.

[Sare + an = 2 words]

Nassa padassa tappurise anādeso hoti sare pare.

Na asso anasso; anissaro (VinA. i, 339); anariyo (Vin. iii, 14).

When a vowel follows, there is ‘an’.
When a vowel follows in a determinative compound, the word “na” is substituted by ‘an’.
  1. Na asso anasso (not a horse, a mule).
  2. Na issaro anissaro (not a creator).
  3. Na ariyo anariyo (not a noble one).
